About this course

California Youth Leadership Corps (CYLC) – Oxnard College

Oxnard College is guided by the students they serve and aims to foster the highest level of success from their students by advocating for a just and inclusive society.

California Youth Leadership Corps (CYLC) has partnered with Oxnard College to create a new community change learn-and-earn career pathway. The Community Leadership Fellowship Program will prepare students to become community organizers and leaders in their local communities while gaining skills in community organizing, advocacy, leadership and development.

Latest Information:

CYLC-Oxnard College applies learn-and-earn community change career pathway programs that enrich and prepare historically marginalized youth for community change careers. The CYLC model provides students work-based learning opportunities with partner organizations who provide critical services to historically marginalized communities. Community Leadership Fellowship Program participants will take credit-bearing courses in Leadership and Social Change leading to a postsecondary credential in community change careers and become change agents in their local communities.

Students who participate will be awarded up to $10,000 in stipends and awarded a scholarship of $5,000 while they are enrolled in the CYLC program.

Eligibility: CYLC serves community college students who are primarily between the ages of 18-24; however, students who are over the age of 24 are eligible to apply. Students must be enrolled at Oxnard College to apply. Students will be selected and onboarded on an ongoing basis.

Application Dates: The application for the Community Leadership Fellowship opens on April 15, 2024, and closes on April 26, 2024.
