Susan Hooks-Brown

Community Engagement Coordinator. Susan Hooks-Brown works as the Southeastern Michigan Community Engagement Coordinator for the Community Learning Partnership. A resident of Metropolitan Detroit for over 25 years, Susan is a long-time advocate for young children and their families living in poverty. Previously, she worked with Matrix Human Services Head Start as the Social Service Specialist, where she led a team of twenty five Family Advocates. She also worked at Southwest Solutions as an Early Care Organizer, organizing Child Care Providers. Susan is also a Detroit Reconnect Ambassador, helping adults 25 years and older in return to college — part of a local initiative with the goal of assisting at least 60% of adults in earning a postsecondary credential by the year 2030. Susan earned her Bachelors Degree in social work from West Virginia State University. She also holds a Certificate in Business Management from Villanova University and a Masters in Social Justice from Marygrove College.
